Tirthan Valley, a hidden gem in Himachal Pradesh is what I call my house in the Himalayas. I had planned to leisurely tour in this valley for 2-3 weeks when I had rather my job to get a break and give for myself an opportunity to work towards my passions. The unmatched loveliness and ease of this spot wooed me so much that I ended up living in Tirthan Valley for 8 months. I carry on going back to the valley, as I discover myself the most serene when I'm house. 1. Trek in the Great Himalayan National Park

Nice Himalayan National Park is recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is house to a variety of endanger type of wildlife like snow leopards and Jujurana (western tragopan). As per your health and comfort height, you can select any number of days to trail in the GHNP. Trekking by the Tirthan River to the resource Tirath glacier throughout the underhanded jungles would be an experience of a type. For birding and wildlife spotting, ensure you go only with experts. A short 1 day trek to Rolla with during night camping in the GHNP can be a superb experience.

2. Reconnect with yourself on the banks of Tirthan River

Tirthan River is one of the most perfect rivers in India. This is the only river in Himachal Pradesh whose flood remnants unobstructed by any dam. I have spent 8 months here waking up to the sound of river and available back to bed with the noise of the river. Tirthan River is a rejuvenating experience.

3. Drive to Pekhri village / Sharchi village in Tirthan Valley

Pekhri and Sharchi are elevated villages in the valley, accessible with dirt roads. Equally the villages offer royal vision of the snow-covered Himalayas in the Great Himalayan National Park. Sharchi village is one of my private favorites!

4. Hike up to small hamlets in Tirthan Valley to learn the basic lifestyle of the locals

Tirthan valley is not commercialized and the locals are joyful keeping it that way. They consider in self-sustainability. Away from rising their personal foodstuff and structure their personal houses, they spoil in collecting grass for their cattle, weaving their personals clothes, weaving their personal baskets, preserving food for winters, grazing cattle, weaving woolens. Take a sunrise walk to few of the hamlet in the vale to watch their way of life, and be prepared to be invited for a cup of tea at their house. People in Tirthan valley are very pleasant and friendly.

5. Birding in Tirthan Valley

Simply stroll just around the valley and you would discover foreign kind of Himalayan birds also on the river side or on trees. You can get lucky with hea flycatcher, red capped white start, Himalayan Griffon, verditer flycatcher, hundreds of red payable blue Magpies and Himalayan bulbuls, black bulbuls, drongo, tits, etc . Go to hamlets on the tallness like Chhamni and Pekhri and you can get lucky with Koklass pheasant, Cheer pheasant, and Kaleej pheasant. Tour into the GHNP to find Western Tragopan (jujuranas), Monal Pheasant.

 

 

6. Relish fresh local food in Tirthan Valley

I bet you would over eat in each meal if you get holy with homemade fresh food. You must end up openhanded the foodstuff reason of food tasting extremely nice at this peak. ​7. Angling / Fishing for Rainbow Trouts in Tirthan River

Although I wouldn’t prop up killing of fish for any cause, but Tirthan river is the only river in India which breeds rainbow trouts. Take your person fish and get it cooked at your homestay. These locals area really recognize how to cook it tasty. For fishing, you would need all day permission from the woodland part.

8. Hike to Chehni Kothi in Jibhi Valley

Jibhi valley is nearby to Tirthan Valley. It is amazing, but not more spectacular than Tirthan Valley (sorry, I’m biased). However, you can take a day tour to Jibhi Valley, expend a few times charming a leisurely walk just approximately the valley and expend a small bit at one of the waterside cafes there. You can get a small climb to Chehni village which boasts of the tallest free-standing building in the Western Himalayas. It is a 1500 year old towered fort build in usual Himachal skill.

9. Drive to Jalori pass and Hike to Serolsar Lake

Once you are at Jalori pass, you can get a tinny simple trek to Serolsar Lake. The lake is of spiritual value to the local’s area. The lake remnants frozen in winters and looks rather good-looking. The trek to the lake and reverse to Jalori pass can take 3-4 hours.

10. Trek to Bashleo Pass

Bashleo pass is links Tirthan Valley to Kullu Sarahan. The bus takes just around 12 hours to reach your destination at any of this location from other, but for locals area it is more appropriate to cover up the distance on foot in 5-6 hours. The trek to Bashleo pass and backside covers 20km and gets tinny strenuous to total on the parallel day. You may think camping for 1 night and recurring turn around to also Tirthan or descend to Kullu Sarahan.

11. Hike to Chhoie waterfall in Tirthan Valley

This is the nearby and most usual hike in the valley. A small 30-45 min hike leads up to a stunning waterfall and depending on the season, the water height up of the drop changes. Approximately everybody who comes to Tirthan Valley visits the waterfall.

12. Buy homemade products from locals in Tirthan Valley

The local area ladies create handmade real products like woolen socks and caps, apricot jam, apricot oil, etc. As there’s no shopping marketplace in Tirthan Valley, you may think selling local area things from the ladies at the homestay (I wouldn't miss any chance to promote women empowerment).

 

 

How to reach Tirthan Valley

The perfect choice is to get a night bus from Delhi / Chandigarh to Kullu or Manali and get downhill at Aut on the way. You can also take on a taxi from Aut to Tirthan Valley or take local area bus from Aut to Banjar and another bus from Banjar to Gushaini.
You can find a flight to Kullu (Bhuntar Airport) and take a taxi to Tirthan Valley.
