Best Time to Visit Pithoragarh

Pithoragarh is a scenic hill destination in Uttarakhand, known for its Himalayan landscapes, valleys, temples, forests, and pleasant mountain climate. March to June is one of the best periods to visit, when the weather is comfortable for sightseeing, photography, and exploring nearby attractions. September to November is another excellent season, offering clear skies, fresh mountain air, and beautiful Himalayan views after the monsoon. July and August bring heavy rainfall, which can occasionally cause roadblocks and landslides, so travel during this period requires extra planning. December to February is cold, with chances of snowfall in higher areas. For a comfortable sightseeing experience, April to June and September to November are generally recommended.

Nakuleshwar temple

According to local people, this temple was built by the Pandava brothers Nakul and Sahdev. It is situated in the Athgaon Shilling area, this temple is 10 km away from Pithoragarh.

Chandak

Situated about 8km away from the city, Chandak is a hill station famous for aadmired temple dedicated to Hindu god Manu. Chandak is the best spot for paragliding too.

Thal Kedar

This place is famous for a valued temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Thal Kedar temple is situated at an elevation of 880 m above sea level and offers a spectacular view of the green valley. Travelers and priests gather here in large numbers during the festival of Shivratri.

Reach Pithoragarh by Train & Flight

By Train: Pithoragarh does not have a major railway station within the town. The nearest useful railway stations are Tanakpur and Kathgodam, depending on the route. Tanakpur is generally a convenient railhead for travelling towards Pithoragarh, while Kathgodam has better connectivity with major cities such as Delhi. From either station, travellers can continue by road using buses, shared vehicles or private taxis. The journey through the Kumaon hills is scenic but can take several hours because of winding mountain roads. It is advisable to check road conditions, especially during the monsoon.

By Flight: Naini Saini Airport in Pithoragarh is the closest airport to the town, although flight services can be limited and may vary depending on the season and operational schedule.
